Intelligence: I had Kurt Schwitters for my artist and something from the thrift store, fake flowers, and something from the trash, a sharpie for my media and nature for the subject. Kurt is a collage artist and i used the fake flowers to resemble his style of work. Although it isn't exactly the same as his, i still created similar ideas. The sharpie was used to draw the girl. My work is more idea-driven because it took a lot of time to come up with something like this. I like drawing and painting flowers so i thought i could just incorporate that in my work somehow. I also see myself constantly drawing black and white female faces with their eyes closed so i just thought it'd be cool to collaborate flowers and the drawing together.
Investment: I did use a lot of outside of class time because i work better at home. I don't like the pressure of people watching me make my work. This project is a lot different then what i have done in the past, i think the concept of this piece reflects me as a person and that's what i want my work to show. If i were to do this project differently, I would have painted on more flowers and added fewer fake flowers.
Difficulty: The difficulty i had was coming up with an idea because at first, i had sand as one of my media and i was allowed to change that. Also, i have difficulty working on things in class due to all the pressure. This project did provide new ideas for future work because i really like working with flowers and the subject of nature. I've learned that my work needs to reflect who i am and that's what my future work will do from now on.
Self Assessment: I would give this a solid A- just because i put more creative thought into this piece than any of my other ones. I spent a lot of outside class time working on this and I hope it shows in this piece.
